How to use Reduce Image Size
1. Select your input
Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image from your device using the file button or supported drop area. The standard file picker accepts browser-readable images up to 25 MB; decoding support depends on the file and browser.
2. Understand the settings
Width, height, proportional sizing and output quality work together. JPG, PNG and WebP outputs are available.
3. Process and review
First reduce width while preserving the ratio, then lower quality only as much as necessary. Process and inspect the actual byte size.
4. Save your result
Use the result’s Download control after processing. Keep your original separately and inspect the exported copy at its intended display size; the preview alone is not the file you will share.
Supported formats
Input: browser-readable images, normally JPG, PNG and WebP, up to 25 MB. Output controls include the shown Keep, JPG, PNG or WebP choices. Keep preserves a supported source encoding choice, not byte-for-byte original data; animation is not preserved.
When to use this tool
Use dimension and quality changes together when an upload has a file-size limit. File size in KB and image dimensions in pixels are different requirements.
What to check in the result
Review the actual downloaded bytes after each pass. This tool does not promise an exact 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB target, and reducing dimensions can make small details harder to read.
Continue with Compress Image when that step fits your workflow.
A practical example
Resize a 4000-pixel-wide photo to a useful smaller width before testing whether it fits an upload limit.
Capabilities and limitations
There is no automatic exact-KB target solver. Check the exported file against the receiving website’s limit.
Troubleshooting
If quality reduction is insufficient, lower the output dimensions. If text becomes unreadable, restore a larger pixel size and use less compression.
Processing and privacy
Image pixels are processed on your device. Loading the website and processing assets still uses a network connection, and hosting may receive normal request information. Keep original files backed up.
Questions about Reduce Image Size
How is this different from compression?
It combines dimension reduction and encoding quality, so you can reduce the number of pixels as well as file size.
Will it meet an upload limit exactly?
No exact KB target is guaranteed. Download the file and check its actual size against the receiving site’s limit.
