TOOL-SPECIFIC GUIDE

How to use Recolor Image

1. Select your input

Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image from your device using the file button or supported drop area. The standard file picker accepts browser-readable images up to 25 MB; decoding support depends on the file and browser.

2. Understand the settings

RGB and CMYK channel modes allow each output channel to draw from another channel, zero or full intensity. Reset channel mapping restores the starting assignment.

3. Process and review

Choose a channel mode, change one output at a time, process and compare. Reset if the mapping becomes too extreme.

4. Save your result

Use the result’s Download control after processing. Keep your original separately and inspect the exported copy at its intended display size; the preview alone is not the file you will share.

Supported formats

Input: browser-readable images, normally JPG, PNG and WebP, up to 25 MB. Output controls include the shown Keep, JPG, PNG or WebP choices. Keep preserves a supported source encoding choice, not byte-for-byte original data; animation is not preserved.

When to use this tool

Remap the available colour channels for a creative recolouring treatment. This differs from predicting colours for an original black-and-white photograph.

What to check in the result

A global channel change can affect skin, whites and branded colours together. Review every important area rather than just the most prominent object.

Continue with Colorize Image when that step fits your workflow.

A practical example

Swap red and blue outputs to create a stylized cool-toned version of a landscape.

Capabilities and limitations

CMYK mode is a creative RGB-rendered transformation, not a calibrated print-ready colour separation or ICC conversion.

Troubleshooting

If colours look unnatural, return the channel controls toward their defaults and change one channel at a time. CMYK-style controls are creative adjustments, not a printer profile.

Processing and privacy

Image pixels are processed on your device. Loading the website and processing assets still uses a network connection, and hosting may receive normal request information. Keep original files backed up.

Questions about Recolor Image

Is this an ICC CMYK print conversion?

No. The controls remap colours for a creative result; they do not create a managed print-profile workflow.

Can I replace one painted region precisely?

This tool changes channels across the image. Region correction for predicted colours belongs to the colorizer workflow.
