Start with a simple recognizable mark

A favicon is often viewed at a very small size. Detailed photographs, thin lettering and complicated backgrounds can become hard to distinguish. Use a simple mark with sufficient contrast and keep the original brand artwork separately.

Crop deliberately before reducing the image. Check whether the subject touches the edge or becomes unbalanced inside a square canvas. A recognisable silhouette matters more here than a large source file’s decorative detail.

Prepare the source format

If your original is an SVG, use SVG to PNG when a raster source is needed. Review the rendered graphic for missing fonts or external assets before generating the icon. Keep the vector original for other brand uses.

Choose transparency only when the graphic remains readable against the backgrounds where the browser or app will display it. A pale transparent mark can disappear against a light interface.

Generate and inspect the actual export

Open Favicon Generator, select the prepared image and use the available output. Check the downloaded file extension and dimensions with Image Information or your operating system. Inspect it at small display size rather than only zooming in.

This tool does not promise a full mobile app icon kit, every manifest size or a multi-resolution ICO file. Those are separate packaging requirements. Do not rename a PNG to .ico and assume the encoded format has changed.

Verify the website integration

Add the actual exported file using the website’s supported icon configuration, then build and test that site. Browser icon caches can retain an earlier asset, so compare a fresh session when checking an update.

The current ImgProcess brand icons are already configured separately from this user tool. Generating a favicon for your own project does not alter ImgProcess’s website branding.
